Zelda School welcomes children from 2 to 7 years old, and works hard to be accessible to children and families from the whole community.
Admissions are done via an Application Form that can be requested from Zelda.
We arrange our admissions waiting list in the order we receive applications, only giving priority to children already attending the school who wish to increase their hours, and to siblings of children currently attending the school.
From September 2017 The Department for Education (DfE) extended the current free 15 hours of childcare (free to all families of 3 and 4 year olds) to 30 hours for eligible families. Combined with this initiative the government introduced a national funding formula for The Early Years from April 2017.
Zelda School can offer up to 30 hours funded places for eligible families, which would cover the cost of a full time place at the school. A charge will still be applied for cooked lunches and snacks.
Children of compulsory school age who are attending Zelda School full time will be required to register as Home Educating, unless they are also attending a mainstream school or Academy as part of a flexi-schooling arrangement.
For further information, please see our full admissions policy which can be found on the Policies page.
A full day costs £29. This includes morning snack and lunch.
If a child attends full time, we give the 5 days for the cost of 4 days.
A half day costs £19, from 9 - 1pm.
We provide statutory government funding for 15 hrs/wk or 30 hrs/wk for 3 and 4 year olds:
All children are entitled to 15 hrs/week from the term after their 3rd birthday until the term after their 5th birthday;
Some families may be eligible for 30 hrs/wk funding. Please see our Admissions Policy for more details;
Some 2 year-olds may also be eligible for funding. Please see guidelines here.
